Cold Blooded Murder!

I first heard about this murder case on the radio this morning, then I read it at the Sin Chew Daily website. Below are excerpt from the news report:
芙蓉市議會打狗隊週四(29日)早上拉大隊,前往芙蓉迪沙亞沙花園一間收養二十多頭野狗的“狗痴”黃世山家外,在出示庭令後入屋開鎗射殺13頭狗,導致屋內遍地狗血,情景駭人;狗痴怒斥市議會入屋射殺狗隻做法不當...
她被執法人員拉開一邊,打狗隊就入屋開鎗,逐一射殺屋內逃命的13頭狗隻...

To the dog owner:
I sympathize with your lost. I applaud your kind soul for treating stray dogs by giving them shelter under your roof. However, I think you could have come up with a better solutions than keeping that many dogs in your own home. Probably send some of them to animal shelters?

To the cold-blooded executioners:
I sincerely hope God forgive you for what you have done to the poor 13 living creatures. I have no doubt what you have done constitute murder in the highest degree although no human lives are involved. I am sure there are a million other ways to carry out your court orders but you chose the most public, inhumane and cruel way to do it!

To the local councilors:
I hope you people could get off your lazy asses once in a while and come up with proper regulations and guidelines to carry out your jobs. I fully recommend sending all your staff for an annual psych evaluation as I don't see any sane person could have commit such hideous crime in the eyes of the public!

To the law-makers:
I hope you people can take this as a case-in-point to come up with a law to protect animals from being brutally murdered just because the so-called owner did not obey the laws in the country. I mean, what crime did the dogs committed to deserve the capital punishment?

Is this what we want our children to learn? I thought they were taught to be loving and caring to all living creatures!

Read more about the cold-blooded murder here and here.

Party Planning

Little Skywalker's second birthday is just around the corner. Being his fun parents, we intend to throw him a party like we did a year ago (read here, here, here and here). We are also thinking on what present to get for him. He already has so many toys that he no longer plays with. He has tonnes of cartoon DVDs that was well stocked up even before he was even born. I know, I know, you must be saying that a sibling will be the best gift for him. But, we've decided to wait till he is at least three years old.

Although it's a Chinese tradition to not celebrate their birthdays after the day itself, but we decided not to be so Chinese this time around. The official family dinner will be held next Saturday (two days later) since Little Skywalker's uncle and aunty will be coming back from North and South. The dinner will probably be held at Milwaukee, his favourite eat-out restaurant. You will definitely noticed a crowd of 20+ people dining and singing birthday songs there if you happen to drop by your presents.

As for his present, I was thinking about getting him a nice bed, next to ours. The bed will have to be attractive enough that Little Skywalker would want to sleep in it. Hence, we will have a hard time choosing it for him, and even harder time to get him to sleep by himself!

p/s: You are most welcomed to mail in your presents :P

New Car Seat

No, we did not buy any car seat for Little Skywalker as we knew he wouldn't want to be strapped in. With J and I in the car, we've decided to move Little Skywalker to the back-seat instead (with J's accompaniment of course). Previously, they sat in the passenger seat when we go out. Last weekend, Little Skywalker found a new "seat" for himself - on the arm rest. I put him on it (along with his steering wheel) and put a seatbelt over him. There are even a couple of cup holders to fit his water bottle.

Look how comfy he is...

Little Rocky driving in his Big Red Car, instead of jogging 5km...

Little Rocky in the middle of a movie poster shoot!

Little Rocky ate some sour strawberries!

Little Rocky had an irritating itch on his little pinky!

L: One... and two... and three!
J: *pengsan*

Little Skywalker wanted to plant a kiss on me with his lips covered with yogurt...
E: Aiyor! So dirty! 走远一点! (Go far far a bit!)
L: *Went and stood at a corner next to him basketball pole*
L: *Looking sad* 我走远一点了... (I walk far far a bit already!)

Act 3:

J: 做什么没有等 mummy? (Why didn't you wait for mummy?)
L: 我拿 soap-y jeh mah! (I take soap only mah!)

L: 不可以! (Cannot!)
J: Mummy 臭臭 wor! (Mummy smelly wor!)
L: 没有啊! Mummy 香香! (No ah! Mummy smells nice!)

Another Four...

Got this from The Revenge of the Twinsmom...

Four jobs I would stink at:
  • Teacher - I do not have enough patience to teach or guide someone, especially in whatever I know best. Probably I will end up doing the job for someone instead of teach them how to do it :(
  • Boss - I don't think I can stand any of my staff saying nasty things behind my back (like what I am doing to my boss, occasionally)
  • Doctor - I think I will have sleepless nights for the rest of my life if I ever lost a patient to God
  • Anything that requires a creative mind - I am only good at copying getting inspiration from someone else's work and innovate on them (I guess that explains the mountain of original "copies" of DVDs at home)

Four pretend nicknames I make up for myself:

Four movies I have watched over and over:

Four places I have lived:

  • Parit - My hometown
  • Selayang - Moved there since I am 5-6 years old
  • Kepong - Moved there a year later when my father bought his first house
  • Sri Damansara - Moved there since I got married and bought my first house

Four things I love to do on my weekends:

  • Lie in bed with J and Little Skywalker until the sun was too bright to close our eyes
  • Have a nice dim-sum breakfast with J and Little Skywalker
  • Have a nice dinner with J and Little Skywalker at a slightly more expensive place than our daily mamak stall
  • Go on outdoor trip (away from the city)

Four TV shows I geek out to, or used to geek out to:

Four alcoholic beverages I’ve enjoyed on offshore vacations:

  • I don't drink! Not even a single drop at my own wedding reception... LOL!

Four things I could NOT live without (besides oxygen, H20, and miscellaneous life-sustaining substances, included our kids and hubby and family member):

  • TV - truly an evil box
  • A vacation, once in a while - otherwise I might go amok one day and kill my boss :P
  • Sitcom, comedies - they make life worth living for me!
  • Computer - what can I say? I am a geek!

Four of my favorite foods, partnered with people with whom I enjoy eating said foods:

  • Bak Kut Teh
  • Dim Sum
  • 芋头扣肉 (anyone could translate? some yam with fat pork)
  • Deep fried bacon - can rarely find cheap ones nowadays :(

Four places I would rather be right now:

  • at the countryside in Japan - hope to open a small hotel up in the hills one day
  • New York city - really hope to see a city that never sleeps!
  • Hawaii - I've seen so many movies, travel guides on this magical place!
  • Monte Carlo - love to see what the rich and famous do in their playground

4 people I mercilessly tagged (this time will be all new faces!):

  • Vien - when can I bring my wife and kid to visit you in California ah?
  • wHOisBaBy - when can I bring my wife and kid to visit you in LA ah?
  • IMMomsDaughter - very long nickname you have there!
  • Linda - this is what you get for dropping your comment for the first time... LOL!

The Cake Story - Part 2

He huffed, and he puffed...

After J helped to blow off the candle, Little Skywalker took his "knife" and wanted to take a stab at the cake! Fortunately, he was stopped by his mother.

Then, we had the ceremonious cake-cutting by the one whose birthday has yet to come.

"Please sir, can I have some?"

Little Skywalker was anxiously waiting (scratch head) for his slow-moving mother to put some cake on his plate...

Then, he pointed out to his parents (both action and words) his favourite part of the cake!

Yummy! Yummy!

"Pehshh shir *munch*, kang I *munch* half shome *munch* morrrr?"

What better birthday present can we wish for??

The Cake Story - Part 1

It all started when my friend (a.k.a. insurance agent for both J and Little Skywalker) brought over a "Father's Day" cake for me on Sunday. Since we did not get any cake for both of our birthdays, the cake will be used for multiple celebrations!

It started off with the opening of the cake box (with some "help" from the present-opener)...

The first view of the cake!

and some poking with the only candle...

Told you it was a "Father's Day" cake!

Posing with the cake and candle (with some fake laughs)...

After Little Skywalker's excellent performance in singing the "Happy Birthday" song, he made a wish to eat the cake and attempted to blow off the candle... it's just hilarious!

To be continued...

Looking Up

Ever since we got our new TV cabinet, Little Skywalker has to start tilting his head upwards to watch his favourite programmes. Our new cabinet was much higher than our previous one, where he loves to stand right in front of the TV for a closer look. Now, he can't even reach the screen! J and I can stop reminding him to "站后面点! 不然就关掉啦!" (stand back a bit, or else we will switch off the TV)...

p/s: Doesn't he look adorable wearing my NYY cap the way he does?!

Birthday Present

As a user of UOB bank credit cards, I received a birthday present from them last weekend (first time in three years!). It was a voucher to redeem something from Ogawa. Since we were at the Curve for our movie outing, we decided to redeem the gift, since it's free anyway. Being the cunning fella I am, I asked J to do the favour. She ended up listening to 10 minutes of salesgirl talk and demonstration while they process my voucher. In the end, we successfully walked out of the Ogawa shop with nothing but my free gift!

Back home, Little Skywalker decided to help me open my present. You could just see how excited he was...

28 years ago, a baby girl was born at Kuala Lumpur Hospital. Two days later, a baby boy was born at the same hospital. Both of them did not know each other then, neither did their parents. For all we know, they could be lying next to each other in nursery, looking at each other, competing who could cry the loudest for attention. Both their parents could have walked pass each others' shoulders at the hall way. They could have chit chat with each other and shared some moments. They could have bided each other farewell upon discharged.

A few years later, the girl's father got reassigned to work at JB. Consequently, her entire family moved down South and settled down. Meanwhile, the boy's family continued their lives in the busy town of KL.

18 years later, the teenage boy and the teenage girl were sent by their parents to study at Malacca for their tertiary studies. One fine day, the boy caught the girl staring into the clouds at her balcony while he was helping a friend to move her electric piano into her hostel room. Since he was not wearing his spectacles then, he could not get a clear picture of who she is. But nonetheless, he was sure she looked familiar.

The boy then ran some background check on the girl. It turned out that she was living next to one of his friend. He managed to get her phone number and asked her out for the first time! They walked almost 20 minutes to the nearest shopping complex. After spending some time there, they walked back. It was the last day of the semester, they decided to write to each other during the break.

After almost 4 months of courtship, the boy and the girl decided to go on a steady relationship. They moved to Cyberjaya after spending two years at Malacca as the University campus has shifted. Their relationship remained steady all the way. Although they led separate lives (as they have different circle of friends), they managed to find time for each other. During the semester breaks, the boy would always make time to go JB for a visit to the girl's family.

As they graduated, the girl found a job with an audit firm in JB while the boy landed on a job in KL. They hardly get to see each other as often anymore. Most of their conversations are through the mobile phone. Although they quarrel sometime, their relationship remained on solid rock.

One year later, the boy introduced the girl to a job in KL. She managed to nail the interview and moved up to KL. The boy proposed to the girl a few months later and they got married. Their families were reunited again after 25 years. The couple bought a house and settled down in KL.

14 months later, another boy joined them and turned their lives upside down on the day of his arrival itself. Since then, three of them are living happily in their small little home, with each other as company, enjoying life as the day goes by...

Quite a story huh?

Let's see if anyone get what I am trying to say here :P

Synopsis:
Little Skywalker is showing off his fake laugh when we turned on his toy train. We didn't know why he did it. Maybe "laughter" was meant for his parents who are always coming up with new ways to make him laugh!

Movie Outing - Cars

After our couple movie date, we felt a bit guilty that Little Skywalker was not there together with us. The situation is made worse when we booked the couple's seat for The Da Vinci Code. We realized that the seat is big enough to fit Little Skywalker in the middle with much comfort!

To make ourselves feel better, we decided to bring Little Skywalker for a movie outing! His first movie with us was the screening of Star Wars III last year. He slept through the entire movie back then. We hoped he would at least stay up for half the duration this time. The movie that we went for was Cars that opened on the same weekend. We already got him a few toy cars from the movie thanks to McDonalds previously.

As usual, I tried to book our seats before hand but the phone lines for CineLeisure Damansara were fully occupied. I guess more and more people must have discovered the newly open cinema in that area! Anyway, I finally managed to book our tickets late Saturday. The tickets were for the 12.10pm show as they do not allow bookings for morning shows.

We had our breakfast at the Old Kopitiam in Tesco. FYI, the services at that particular Old Kopitiam were very bad. Almost all their customers were complaining (some even shouting out loud) that no one is taking their orders. After our breakfast, we proceeded to collect our tickets around 11am. We even got a free Cars bookmark that came with our tickets! That naturally went to Little Skywalker. It's amazing how a piece of paper can make him so happy that he even posed for me to take some shots!

After that, we went out to the area between The Curve and the cinema where the fountains were located. Little Skywalker just loved to see water shooting out of the floor! We sat there for almost 30 minutes before it was time to get some pop-corns for the movie. We also allowed him to touch the cold water, which he got a kick out of.

When it was time, we went into the cinema hall. We were glad that Little Skywalker did not complain about the place being dark and scary. He happily sat in between us and started to stuff his mouth full of pop corns. When the movie started, he started to pay attention to the big silver screen. We also brought along his McD car (the red one) to show him that it is racing at the beginning of the movie!

The storyline started to get slow after 30 minutes or so, and Little Skywalker was getting sleepy. He dozed off for 30 minutes or so. Fortunately, he "regained consciousness" after that and kept on watching the movie as well as giving his narrator comments like "this car car...", "drive fast fast", "got bus wor" etc.

The movie went on for slightly over 2 hours. FYI, it was a really good movie from Pixar, especially for kids who can understand what they are talking. The movie basically has no villain at all, as the original "bad guy" is the main character. As you might guessed, the "bad guy" turn over a new leaf at the end, and live happily ever after...

Before I forget, today is my wife, J's birthday! (her age is currently part of CIA's file)

Happy Birthday to you, dear!
