上星期六, 我和老婆难的有机会去拍拍拖. 这多谢了一位从怡保来的同事. 她送了我两张"縱貫線之大马演唱会"的入场券. 然而, 美中不足的是我们的快乐似乎建筑在他人的悲伤上. 她老公很不辛的患上了鼻腔癌, 需要入院治疗, 所以不能去看. 唉! 希望他能早日康复...

话说回头, 我和老婆连晚餐都来不及吃, 差不多六点半就到了武吉加里爾博特拉体育馆(还不是为了避塞车和霸个好车位). 我们随随便便在门口的肥仔滷滷吃了两三根便入场入座了.

等了差不多一个小时, 看了无数篇的广告过后, 演唱会总算序幕了. 台上站了位白裙女生, 大灯都专著在她身上. 原来她是一名叫 Yuki 的女歌星, 是演唱会的表演嘉宾. 一首"驼鸟"唱完后, 现场的气氛就开始转变了.

一幕一幕的开场片段之后, 四位天王级的"音乐顽童"终于登场了! 除了張震嶽是鼓手之外, 其他三位(羅大佑, 李宗盛, 周華健)都手抱吉他. 四位(四代同堂)以他们乐团(縱貫線)的新歌《鄉親父老》和《公路》为现场观众热身. 气氛真的是高(high)到了顶点! 过后就是一连串的組曲(鹿港小鎮+分手吧+我終於失去了你+愛相隨+亡命之徒).

四人合唱后, 接下来就是个人独秀时光了...

Today, our Little Jack turns ONE!

His character is similar to Little Luke
He is very close to his grandfather than anyone else
He rarely laugh (except if you give him a taste of your food)
He starts walking at about 9 months (even before he can stand by himself)
He put up a serious face all the time
He is definitely not a pushover
He likes to watch TV with Little Sean
His favourite TV shows are Wiggles and Cars (The Movie)
He dislike being wrapped up in his car-seat
He is very prone to flu problems (this adds to his mother's guilt of only breast-feeding him six months)
He enjoys going out in the stroller with his grandfather every evening
and a million other things we love about him...

We celebrated his birthday last Sunday... and we only wish for his good health!

Little Luke is Five!

Today, our Little Luke turns five!

He has been the perfect son that anyone could have for the first three years, and a little more than naughty for the past two years.
He is the smartest (and that includes the most cunning) among his siblings.
He is always annoyed all the time.
He learns quickly and therefore is easily bored.
He likes to kick his younger brothers.
He can never sit down quietly for more than 1 minute.
He loves company and hates being alone.
He is outgoing and likes socializing with people.
He can always sense weakness in people (especially his parents).
He takes his medicine with little persuasion.
He never holds grudges.
He is really really forgetful!
He is very generous (he gives away his stationary to his classmates all the time)!
He is the perfect type of Big Brother anyone can expect to protect his younger ~~and weaker~~ siblings!
and a million other things we love about him...

J and I hope our harsher upbringing of him will be enough for him to shoulder the responsibility of being the eldest boy in the family.

Little Sean is Two!

Today, our Little Sean turns two!

He has been the perfect son that anyone could have for the past two years.
He always put on a big smile and gives me a hug everyday without fail (when I come back from work).
He is happy all the time.
He is constantly spreading joy to everyone.
He can play with his toy without any supervision.
He is obsessed with cars!
He loves to watch the movie "Cars"!
He doesn't mind the constant harassment by his older brother.
He never bullies his younger brother.
He listens and obeys almost every instruction.
He sits in his own car seat (with seat belt on) quietly.
He loves pointing to cars on the road and say "Car car!"
He is the exact opposite of his elder brother :P
and a million other things we love about him...

Not A Dull Moment

Last Friday, J and I both took leave to attend our first Parents-Teachers Day at Little Skywalker's kindergarten. We chose to miss the last session (end of last year) as he was only enrolled for 2 months. This time around, we get a chance to learn how he did in his exams, and more importantly, how he behaves in the classroom.

A little background on Little Skywalker's journey to kindergarten. We enrolled him to a newly opened kindergarten early last year. It was a tough 2 months as he was really reluctant to get up in the morning and refused to go. His attendance was at best 3 days in a week. We decided to call it quit in March before he cultivates a lasting fear of going to school. It was still one year too early back then.

Then came September 2008, J and I decided to give him another go at a different kindergarten. We started off the right foot as we were invited for a Mooncake Festival party at the kindy prior to his first day at school. The party managed to change his attitude towards going to school. He came to think school as a fun place to be. It was almost smooth sailing from then on (although he experiences Monday blues from time to time).

Speaking of exams, we decided not to pile any pressure on Little Skywalker. We did not even wanted him to know what exams are really about. We just let him get on with his daily homework and activities (although my parents did helped him to do some revision) a week prior to his exams. We even brought him to Genting a day before his exams started.

Basically, we wanted to know if he managed to learn enough in school to help him pass his exams. We weren't quite bothered about anything else as he seems to be able to finish all his homework by himself with little help. In fact, he tends to be slower if others try to "help" him. He tends to talk and ask a lot of unnecessary stuff when others are at his side. I have to remind J time and time again not to "coach" him on his school work.

Coming back to the original topic, we brought Little Skywalker to meet his teacher last Friday morning. We were quite lucky as most of the parents had their sessions much earlier and we did not have to wait. A jolly and friendly Indian lady waiting in his classroom greeted us and invited us (along with #2) to have a seat at those tiny little chairs meant for the 5-year olds.

To start off with, Ms Josephine handed Little Skywalker's "report card" and a file containing all his exam papers. Little Skywalker was his active self around his teacher. He kept running around the school looking for his favourite teacher, Ms Judy (who was in another session in a separate classroom) while we talk to Ms Josephine.

Ms Josephine began by telling us how "lively" Little Skywalker was in the classroom (not surprisingly). She told us that Little Skywalker always like to "hide" under the table looking through his bag. He was the most talkative student in the class compared to his peers. He would be flipping through the pages by himself when everyone else was reading. At first, she thought he did not know how to read. But when Little Skywalker was asked to read alone, he surprised her!

On his classroom antics, Ms Josephine relayed one funny incident that happened in the classroom. Little Skywalker was "busy talking" to his friends while class was in progress. She called out to him for attention. To her surprise, he replied with an annoyed expression on his face "Whaaaaat?". All of us did not know whether to laugh or cry over the story. Anyway, we told her that he does not behave any differently in school than how he does at home.

On his results, he did surprisingly well in all his papers (straight As, LOL!), especially with mathematics. We were surprised that his weakest subject was Mandarin, as his spoken language is 60% Mandarin at home. The teachers were not worried about his grades. We were told his performance was on par with other students in his class. Anyway, we were just happy he did not "fail" anything.

Despite his "mischievous" antics in the classroom, he remains a joyful and active boy in the eyes of his teachers. Ms Judy's left us with a heart-warming remark "The class would certainly be dull and boring without him"...

Swiss-Garden Golf Resort & Spa Damai Laut - Beach Fun

The beach at Damai Laut was clean, beautiful and sandy. #1 always love to play with the sand along the beach but #2 prefers his feet dry and clean. He made some noise when we took his slippers off. Anyway, I got him to accompany (the lazy) me relaxing on the wooden beach bed...

Swiss-Garden Golf Resort & Spa Damai Laut - Accomodation

Thanks to Twinsmum's SIL (Pat), we got a good deal for our vacation to Swiss-Garden Golf Resort & Spa Damai Laut. It was supposed to be "integrated" into my itinerary for my business trip to Ipoh. Unfortunately, I ended up making two trips (more about the second trip later) to Perak for two consecutive weeks due to a change of schedule for my business trip (it just means that we have to pay extra toll and gas for our vacation).

The resort was located quite remotely (almost 10 minutes drive from the main road and 20 minutes from Lumut town) and the road leading to it was very narrow. We were very surprised to see such a beautiful golf resort after driving through some thick palm oil estate. It was well worth it!

Our seaview room was very spacious even for the four of us (Little Jack did not come along) and the view were spectacular. It has a very nice swimming pool with a man-made waterfall. You can see the Pangkor Island across the sea as you walk along the long stretch of their private beach. The resort even has a private Jetty and ferry if the guests want to make a trip to Pangkor Island.

First Pak-Toh

On the last day of CNY, we managed to catch up with Vien (who came back all the way from San Francisco) and Twinmom at Mid Valley. Vien brought her two girls, so it was only fair that I bring only two boys (heh). Most of our (and I mean the three ladies) conversation centred around the naughty history of our children (duh!) and the various delicious Malaysian delicacies that you won't find in the States.

After about two hours of chit-chatting, we decided to call it a day as Vien was on a hectic schedule back in KL. While we part ways, Little Skywalker and Belle (Vien's eldest daughter) had other ideas in mind. It started off when Belle ~~groped~~ grabbed Little Skywalker's hand (although Vien might dispute this) and both of them went pak-toh/windows shopping spree their own (while leaving their parents behind dumbfounded)...

Don't they make a cute little couple?

p/s: If this is any indication of things to come, J and I would need to prepare for paternity suits coming our way... LOL!

After spending Christmas with my family, we headed down south to my in-laws for the long year-end holidays. Little Sean and Jack got to reunite with their Big Brother after a month long seperation. My parents tag along as well, probably they miss Little Skywalker as much as we do.

This would our first trip since my in-laws moved into their new house at Bukit Indah. Our trip was timely as the new Jusco Bukit Indah just opened about a week before.

Lost and Not Found

Well, here I am. It’s almost 12.30am and I am still awake. Long story…

It was supposed to be one of our best vacations. We got to bring our two boys onboard a plane (Little Jack stayed back at my in-laws). It was supposed to be most thrilling to watch Little Sean enjoy his first flight. For Little Skywalker, he is still enjoying the rush although he has been through it at least 3-4 times. FYI, we actually did enjoy every bit of the aforementioned. I even took a few memorable shots onboard the Airbus.

There we were, ready to begin our vacation in Kuching (J referred to it as City of Cats), and the most bizarre thing happened. Someone actually stole our 4 years old camera! And this happened while we were waiting for everyone else to disembark entirely before we did the same (Little Skywalker was sleeping)! At first, I thought I had misplaced it but we searched everywhere to no avail (even with the help of some kind stewardess).

Naturally, both J and I blamed ourselves. During the descent, we kept Little Sean distracted by letting him hold the camera. He dropped it at one point and J mentioned that it was Sean’s little way of telling us to get a new one (~~we’ve~~ I have been planning it for some time already). Nobody knew it was the first sign! On my behalf, I purposely left the camera in the pocket of the seat in front of us because I hoped to take a few photos of the boys with the AirAsia plane on the background after we got down.

Unfortunate incidence like this really makes us loose a little bit more faith and trust in humanity. It’s not so much of the monetary lost that we’ve suffered. I mean, come on, I am sure our ol’ Lumix F7 has served us much more than we deserved for the past four years (over 50 Gigabytes of photos!). We were more upset over the fact that some smalltime pickpocket (who can afford an air ticket!) actually robbed us of our only hope of capturing memorable moments throughout our vacation in Kuching!

It took us a few hours to get over our emotional lost. However, we were still grateful that I have copied out all the photos (namely photos and videos of Little Skywalker’s first school concert!) from my camera last night and formatted the card in preparation for this trip. All was left in it are some photos of the boys onboard our flight. Most of them were quite blurry anyway since I did not use any flash. I guess the silver lining is pretty clear huh?

There you go, we were slightly upset but we are still happily enjoying ourselves here in the “City of the Cats”!

Long Break

In short, we will be at my in-laws in JB most of the time with a trip to Kuching (everyone except Jack) and Kota Kinabalu (myself only for work).

Over the long weekend for the Hari Raya holidays, our family went to Port Dickson for a three days two nights stay. It was Little Sean's first trip and it was fun for everyone!

The discussion among family members at our mooncake festival dinner centered around the current political atmosphere that is shrouding our beloved country. As a husband as well as a father to three, I cannot help but fear for the future of my boys. My wife and I have contemplated a few times on whether to give up here and move to a better country. However, that would mean that I have to leave my extended family and friends behind. My boys will be devastated if they are to be separated from their grandparents and vice versa.

With that in mind, I think our fear for the unknown is no longer an option here. In my humble analysis, I believe that our local political arena is like a big chess set. On one side, we have:

latest! Resignation of the Minister of Law!
An incompetent and corrupted leader (not to mention a sleepy one) who’s rating has gone below 41%
A government that is weak and corrupted to its core
A corrupted enforcement force (this includes police, immigration, local authorities etc.)
A barely functioning judiciary
A leadership that is bend on using force and intimidation on its own citizens (ISA on three could just be the beginning)
A leadership that barely understands the word "economy"
A bunch of flip-flop ministers that either contradict themselves or one another in making major decisions that affect everyone of us (eg. when or how to raise/lower the fuel price)
A hypocrite government that still prefers the "divide-and-rule along racial line" policy practiced long time ago by our colonial powers although we were taught in school such policy was a BIG mistake
A leadership that choose to silence opposite views instead of countering them with sound arguments and facts
A leadership that is still haunted by the ghost of an ex-leader

On the other side of the ring, we observed:

A new and strong alternative to the existing government
A leader who profess equality among its people
A leadership that has yet to be tainted with corruption
A leadership that promise to improve our economy
A group of people that are banded together by common values and ideals
A group of people that represents the fruit of our 51 years of independence
A group of people that are bend on abolishing draconian laws
A group of people that stand by each other regardless of their ideals and belief
A group of people that vows to build a better tomorrow

Never before in 51 years of our country's history that all the pieces are so well-positioned. And believe me when I say we will not see another chance for another 51 decades.

It's not the time to be afraid, it's time to step forward and be counted.

It's time for us to unite as a nation!

In view with the current political climate, I came across a true story from Zorro.

The following scene took place on a BA flight between Johannesburg and London...

A White woman, about 50 years old, was seated next to a Black man. Obviously disturbed by this, she called the air Hostess.

"Madam, what is the matter," the Hostess asked.

Before the woman could reply, the Hostess continued: "It is unusual for our company to permit someone from Economy class to sit in First class. However, given the circumstances, the Captain feels that it would be scandalous to make someone sit next to someone so disgusting."

She turned to the Black man and said, "Therefore, Sir, if you would like to, please collect your hand luggage, a seat awaits you in First class."

At that moment, the other passengers who were shocked by what they had just witnessed, stood up and applauded.

Prodigal Son Returns

Little Skywalker went on a long stay with my in-laws since Little Jack was born. Since he had much fun and put on weight during his last stay, we thought it would be best for him as well as for the rest of us.

He was away for almost 2 months, the longest so far. J calls him at least once every day to check on him, as well as to remind him that his parents still cares about him. According to my MIL, he is very happy there and has no problem eating his meals. She even asked if we want to put him to school at JB. We said we might consider it if all else fails back in KL.

Although Little Skywalker is naughty most of the time, but everyone still misses him badly when he is not around. He can really bring joy and laughter to the room when he is not in a bad mood. The house is livelier with him around

My in-laws brought him back to KL last weekend. The first thing I noticed about him is that he gains quite a bit of weight. I can barely carry him in my arms now. As for his character, nothing much has changed. He is still the same old mischievous and cunning little fella two months ago, except with more weight added to it. Nonetheless, everyone is very happy that he is back in KL again. We will be trying hard to get him to choose a school that he likes in the coming months.

I can still remember when I started this blog after we celebrated Little Skywalker's first birthday three years ago. How time flies! We celebrated Little Sean's first birthday two weeks ago at a Korean restaurant. We didn't invited anyone because it was only a small family dinner. The most notable absentee was Little Skywalker as he was staying with my in-laws in JB for two weeks.

Friso-ing My Boys!

J and I were trying to come up with a plan to switch over to Friso Gold Growing Up Milk ever since we got our hands on it.

For Little Skywalker, it was very easy as he didn’t drink much milk anyway in his daily diet, only once in the morning and once before he goes to bed at night. All we did was substituted his milk powder from day one and that was it. To our surprise, he liked it more than his previous milk powder. In less than 2 weeks, more than half the tin has already gone. He likes to mix it with his cornflakes in the morning and with some cereals at night. He had become a Friso Boy from day one!

For Little Sean, we were quite cautious as he was having quite a bit of diarrhea on his old formula for the past one month. His pediatrician recommended some lactose-free formula to him for a few weeks until his condition blows over. After that, we try to switch him to Friso Gold 3 slowly. Since he is always a hungry boy, we manage to switch him over in less than 1 week. He has been on it ever since!

Three Boys!

J went for her second ultrasound scan this morning as part of her regular checkup at UMMC. We are quite anxious to know about the outcome of this scan as the first one did not reveal the gender of the baby.

We have also grown tired of telling people "We have no idea" every time they asked whether it's a boy or a girl.

About 10 minutes ago, I received an SMS from J that reads "You can start thinking for boy name". So there, everyone can stop betting and give me 50% of their winnings... LOL!

p/s: proposal for the baby's name (english and chinese) is officially open!

VIP Living For A Day

Due to some hiccups by management, someone forgot to arrange for my accommodation while I am in Kota Bharu for a meeting. It was only a couple of days ago that I found out about it. When I called Renaissance for a last minute booking, I was informed that they are almost fully booked due to school holidays. All they could spare was a Junior Suite! Hence, the company have no choice but to pay for it :P

Upon arrival, I was told to check in on the 19th floor, as opposed to the usual check-in counter at the lobby. A concierge was assigned to escort me as you need an access card to reach the "Club Floor" via the lift. FYI, your room access card only enable you to get to your floor, the rest of the floors are off limits!

At the Club Lounge on the 19th, they checked me in within 5 minutes. I was given a "welcome letter" and the access card to my ~~room~~ Junior Suite. Believe me, this is the first time I have seen such a luxurious room!

It has a king-size bed with six pillows!

You can imagine the size of the bathroom...

This will be my ~~cyber cafe~~ office for the next 24 hours...

After 15 minutes, someone rang the bell. It was a hotel staff bringing me the following...

Guess what? According to the "welcome letter", everything (food and beverage) provided in the Club Lounge are complimentary! I am never going to leave this floor!!

Ahhh... IF only this dream could last longer than 24 hours...

Our FRISO!

I got some Friso packs two days ago. One tin of Friso Gold 4 for my #1 and another tin of Friso Gold 3 for my #2.

A little background on both my sons’ milk powders. #1 dislikes any form of formula milk since he was taken off breastfeeding when he was 2 years old. We tried many brands but to no avail. We could only sneak some into him by mixing it with other hot drinks like Milo etc. As for my #2, we didn’t want to make the same mistake. So, we gave him formula milk since he was 6 months old.

The milk powder we gave to both of them are conventional ones only, with no extra GOLD features or whatsoever. Hence, Friso Gold is clearly considered an upgrade in every aspect. First of all, we love the “hygiene pack” that came with the tin. It’s much easier to open and close compared to the conventional aluminum covers. It also prevents the milk powder from being contaminated by water and germs (especially true since our milk powder inside kept at the kitchen).

From the information displayed on the tin, the Friso Gold formula will equip my children with a healthy combination of prebiotics (FOS), probiotics (L. reuteri), nucleotides, selenium and mixed carotenes. It also has DHA, AA and SA for my children’s overall development.

That being said, as a parent, what I would look for in any milk powder is it gives my child the ability to build up their own natural immune system to withstand common bacteria, virus and germs. This is especially true in my case since both my boys are really active and outgoing in their daily routine. From what I can see, Friso Gold is a very good choice for both of them.

A couple of weeks ago, we were running out of place to bring our two monkeys for their weekend. Listening to Little Skywalker's repeated "我现在要做什么啊?" was kind of getting to our nerves. Then, it hit me. We would try to make a daytrip up Genting Highlands for a change.

Surprisingly, I realised I only needed 45 minutes to reach the peak and less than that coming down (well within speed limits). And guess what? We spend less than 20% of what we normally do and get more of it than we normally do (our last trip ended with two boys with fever)!

First Time Botak

Last weekend, we brought Little Sean on his first trip back to my kampung in Perak (to deliver our 29" TV). Little Skywalker went along to Pangkor with his grandparents instead. Although it's a short 2 night's stay, we had quite a great and relaxing time in the quiet town of Parit.

While we were there, Little Sean's great-grand-uncle brought him to a traditional barber shop to have his first hair cut. According to him, the little guy was struggling hard (as oppose to his big brother).

Post Election Syndrome

After that historic day... and followed by the history fall of KLSE, I have been busy keeping myself updated with all the post-election euphoria that was going on. I think I am ready to give my take on the whole drama (by political parties)...

Election Commission
All the big fuss of amending our constitution just to extend that idiot's job for one year, I guess his head will be the first to roll after he failed to ensure a stunning victory for BN. The brainless excuse of not using the "super-ink" he bought with our money (that might be auctioned off at eBay) sealed his foul legacy in history. I suggest the unused ink to be used to paint his whole house black!

Gerakan
A defeat accepted with grace and humility by Dr Koh (the only one) was really a breath of fresh air into the ugly political world of Malaysia. It was a pity that their party was totally annihilated in Penang. His predecessor was lucky to have escaped such humiliation by retiring. However, Keng Yik must have suffered some form of setback since his son had also lost in KL.

MCA
I guess everyone is tired of being threatened by their "If you don't vote for us, you will not have a voice in the government". The Ong brothers should both resign in shame as both of them are the ones responsible for selecting the (wrong) candidates as well as coming up with the most idiotic campaign slogan! All I can say is "if you want to campaign for being low profile in everything, why bother campaigning at all?"

UMNO
Well, what can I say? Many of the heavyweights went down. Three more MB posts went to the opposition. The Oxford son-in-law narrowly escaped a humiliation after a "recount". The May 13th and NEP threat backfired horribly. The only people left to be cannibalized are the armed forces and the less educated senior citizens who live in kampung. So far, this is the only party whose leadership are still in denial and have not offered any signs of remorse.

The whole party sank like the Titanic when the old captain guided them directly towards an ice-berg. My colleague who is from Sungai Siput was totally dissapointed with Samy's lost as he has really done wonders to the maintenance of the road back home. The only question is, if a monkey can see this coming after all the demonstration that has been going on by the community, why didn't he?

DAP/PKR/PAS
Heartfelt congratulations to all three, although their victory sent shivers down investors' spine. I hope they can really make their multiracial coalition work as long as it can. Don't disappoint the people who voted you into power (by fighting for positions)! I can safely say that if they fail to impress the voters within the next 4-5 years, they won't be return to power for another 50 years to come! Another thing, although the top leadership might be able to cooperate for the bigger picture, there is an urgent need to pass down the same message to the the grassroot members. Without a solid base, even the best leaders will tumble!

As for me, I think this election serves as a great lesson to those arrogant and greedy low-life at the federal and state governments. It shows that the rakyat's wishes deserves to be respected and not made fun of. We should not be threatened with ugly history events (which should be long left buried in the first place). We should not be threatened with FRU and their water canons. We should not be told to be grateful just because you guys are sleeping on your job while spending our tax and petrol money.

In the end of the day, we are your boss, and you are our servant. You are meant to serve us, not to rule us!

His Last Day

It pains me to say this, but tomorrow will be Little Skywalker's last day at school...

J and I (together with my parents) decided it was better for him before his school-phobia gets worse. For the past two months, everyone have tried every way to get him interested into going to school but to no avail. Every morning, he would still cry and whine to avoid going to school.

In school, we were told that he likes to walk around to "kacau" his fellow classmates and teacher. He also likes to enquire as to when the school bell will ring for him to go home. He is also very talkative (including makes up stories) and good at counting.

We hope that all his phobia will fade away in the coming months and he will be mentally prepared when he attends formal kindy next year. This year was just meant for fun anyway.

It seems like only yesterday I took him to school on his first day. I guess I will need to wait another 10 months to see him in his cute uniform again...

Virus Attack

Since early January, some flu virus has been attacking Little Skywalker, Little Sean and I, one by one. When one of us recovered, the other one starts showing symptoms. This went on for over a month. J seems to be the only one with the ability (probably with the power of two) to withstand the attack of the virus. It also means that the burden of taking care of the sick rests mainly on her shoulders (as the rest of us seem to succumb easily to the spreading of the virus). We have travelled to the clinic and paediatric clinic so often that the doctors can recognize our faces. Our medical bill went over RM500+ for the month.

Little Sean had to go under the nebulizer and antibiotic for a almost a week because the doctor suspected him of having a lung infection. The virus reaches its peak when Little Skywalker began vomiting non-stop one night. We decided to bring him to the clinic when J saw some blood came out in his vomit. All the doctor did was to refer him to the nearest hospital (Selayang Hospital) because Little Skywalker was badly dehydrated and probably needed some IV drip.

As soon as I realised that Little Skywalker was about to be admitted to Selayang Hospital, all the awful memories during his birth started to surfaced again in my head. It did not help when the doctor (that was attending to him at the hospital) expressed his surprise when he saw our boy's "colorful" history. "His delivery was really eventful huh?" was his exact remarks.

At the emergency department, my mother and I had a hard time holding Little Skywalker down so that the nurses can put him on IV. He is surprisingly strong eventhough he is dehydrated. He stopped vomiting shortly after he was on IV and went to sleep. They moved him to the paediatrics ward later so that one of us (no winner in guessing who) could stay back with him at the hospital.

J and Little Skywalker stayed at the hospital for two nights. He did not vomit again since the first night. His blood work did not show signs of dengue or any abnormality. Suffice to say, the doctor had no idea what was wrong with him. He was back to his normal active self by the next morning although his IV is still on. I brought him some games to keep him busy so that J could get some rest.

When he was finally discharged, he lost almost 2kg that he has gained over the past one year...

*Kid crying*...*More kids crying*...*Even more kids crying*...!

That almost sums up the environment at Little Skywalker's kindy on the first day...

That more or less sums up yesterday morning when I took leave to bring Little Skywalker to his kindy for his first day. Yeah, we enrolled him for kindy early. I guess my parents got tired of him asking "我要做什么啊? (What should I do now?)" at home all the time. I didn't want J to come along as Little Skywalker gets more whiny when she is around (you're right! I'm the bad cop at home).

Little Skywalker was quite shy and whiny at first (he kept saying he wanted to go home). He didn't want me to leave him in the classroom. After a while, he started to cry when some other kids started to cry. His teacher convinced me to leave him alone as they are quite capable of handling crying kids. So, I left the room and peek through the little glass on the door.

As predicted, Little Skywalker started to tear up and walk towards the door. His teacher manage to catch hold of him and coaxed him back to his seat. I was heartbroken to see him cry like that. Fortunately, he calmed down after a while and was distracted by the activities that were going on in the classroom. I guess all I had to do was to distance myself from him and give him a chance to adapt to the changes surrounding him by himself. It's really not easy to let go...

Their last activity of the day was to have fun at the kindy's playground. The teacher made them line up in a "choo-choo-train" and guide them out. He still needed someone to put on his shoes for him (actually he is just plain lazy). He was all out at the playground and ~~shoving~~ pushing other kids in his way (he obviously needs training in his manners).

When the bell rang, he told me he didn't want to go home. LOL!

Well... that was his first day at school. At least he continued his father's fine tradition of crying on his first day at school (but I was already six then, LOL!!)

Christmas Season

HO HO HO!

It's that time of the year again! It felt like only yesterday when we last brought out our Christmas tree. This Christmas will be Sean's first, but he is temporarily down with a fever and cough. However, he still manage to show his joyful face to everyone who have came back to celebrate Christmas with us.

As for Christmas presents, we already got both of them a big bag load from the Mattel warehouse sale a few months ago. All we need to do was to wrap them up nicely and put it under the tree, and wait to see their faces when they unwrap them. The Christmas presents from the boys' Godparents have arrived a big box few months ago. The only regret we had is that J and I did not remember get some presents for the lovely couple in US. I think we will save it for something to buy for their new house when they move in.

In the mean time, we hope the following ~~pictures~~ "presents" from our two boys will bring joy and laughter to Greenapple and Tomato during this festive season.

Break From Reality

First of all, J and I would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has left their congratulatory message in the previous posting. I didn't know that people are still dropping by after so long...

Our surprise pregnancy could not have come at a better time. Since J and I needed some time to digest and plan for "the unplanned", my in-laws are here to take care of the household. They are here for a long stay (2-3 weeks) as my father-in-law had just retired. The three sisters are here as well. That could only mean that Little Skywalker would have more people to play with in the house (fewer headaches for his parents and little brother)!

To make their stay more interesting, we have booked another 2 night's vacation to Genting this coming Sunday. It would be a much needed break for us before all the morning sickness and "mood swings" begins. Let's pray and hope that the weather will be fair enough for everyone to enjoy themselves in the theme parks!

This Saturday will also mark another huge milestone for Little Skywalker as we will be registering him for pre-school! We have brought Little Skywalker to visit his soon-to-be kindy two weeks ago and he seems to like it very much (especially the computer lab). It is within walking distance from my parents' place. The facilities are brand new since it is only starting it's first year of operation (as a kindy) in 2008. And guess who the owner of the place is? It's none other than Jesse's grandfather!

Will be writing and putting up more photos after our short vacation...

A Month's Summmary

I can't believe that a month has almost passed without any update on our boys. Kinda feeling guilty towards their Godparents who live on the other side of the globe. Well, here goes...

Little Skywalker:
He is still his usual self (active and mischievous) and always out to get his parents. He was down with a throat problem over the last weekend and was snoring loudly in his sleep. He is almost over it by now. Since my last update, he's been to Penang and Genting with my parents.

Little Sean:
He is growing at lightning pace (although not physically). He can turn himself over since 3 weeks ago. He could sit up straight on a baby's chair without hitting his head on the sides. His hernia on his belly button (a birth defect) is almost completed subsided by now. He is almost as chatty (if not more) as his brother although all he only talks in a language only dolphins can understand.

Both of them:
We brought the both of them to a few entertaining events. We've been to The Royal London Circus who was performing at Klang. Two weeks later, we brought them to the Disney Live - Mickey's Magic Show at Bukit Jalil (one of my friends gave us four tickets). Just last Sunday, we went to the cinema for the Bee Movie.

That's all for now, will write more about all the travelling that I have done for the last two weeks next...

Balik Kampung

Throughout the Hari Raya weekend, we went back to my in-laws at JB. It was our first trip back since Little Sean was born and our first in our "new" car. We travel at wee hours in the morning (departed at 4am) when the boys are fast asleep. Lucky for us, the third row seats of the car can be reclined into a bed for the J and Little Skywalker while Little Sean was tucked in his car seat.

We did not do much in JB except staying at home and rest. My in-laws were very happy to have the boys in the house as they really add more ~~noise~~ joy to the quiet neighbourhood.

After a three nights of enjoyable stay, we came back to the busy town of KL and resume our daily routine...

Boys at Kids Sport

A couple of weeks ago, we brought Little Skywalker and Little Sean to Kids Sport at 1 Utama. It has been a while since we last visited that place. Little Skywalker was the most excited one!

After all that hectic workload, I got a short one day break from work (in the form of flu induced MC)...

It's been almost a month since I last wrote something on my kids. Rest assured, they are as healthy and active as ever. Little Skywalker went for two trips with my parents for two consecutive weekends. His first trip was to Cameron Highlands followed by a Pangkor Island trip. Consequently, J and I spent our time accompanying Little Sean at home. We missed Little Skywalker a lot though...

A little update for Little Sean (to his Godparents)...

Compared to Little Skywalker, Little Sean is a little harder to please for his age. He constantly crave for attention from his parents. Otherwise, he would yell and cry until he gets what he wants. He started sucking his own fingers since a month ago. At times, he almost stuffed his entire fist into his small mouth. We contemplated of giving him a pacifier but were reluctant to do so.

We are still waiting for Little Sean to make his first turn. He is only half way there!

We put Little Sean on a crawling position regularly to train up his neck strength. He was able to lift his head up for quite some time now!

So much for now, got to get back to my pills and rest...

50th Anniversary

50 years huh?! I would certainly pray and hope that J and I will still be around to celebrate our Golden Jubilee over a romantic dinner...

Prior to our nation's 50th anniversary, I was kept occupied with various negative articles about our country's state of affairs. The economy was heading towards the downside and share market was sliding as well. News on corruption in the highest level of the government hogged the lime light of every newspaper (does PKFZ ring a bell?) and I could hardly see any flags being displayed on buildings (except the opposite Kuala Lumpur Hospital) and cars.

I was tempted to give my two cents on the various issues clouding our Merdeka celebrations but I was too busy planning for our vacation. Now, a week later, I am still inclined to do so. However, something I saw yesterday literally stopped me...

I was driving back to my parents' place to pick up J and Little Skywalker as usual. I drove pass the children's playground that is near my parents' place and saw my grandmother and Little Skywalker there. Little Skywalker had just finished his cup of ice-cream (courtesy of my grandmother) and was about to run about the playground.

I parked my car and joined him while relieving my grandmother to her 6pm TV series. At first, I followed the little monkey around to make sure that he doesn't perform any dangerous stunt like running too fast or walking up the slides. I noticed there were a few kids around. Being the good PR himself, Little Skywalker got acquainted quickly with one of them (a few years senior than him) and started following him around, doing what he does.

After making sure they weren't up to something dangerous, I took a step back and sat down on the bench, continue to keep an eye on them. Soon after, more children came to the playground. One old man even came in a motorbike with his two grandchildren. Little Skywalker continue to tagged along with one kid after another. He even befriended the old man and his two grand-daughters. The old man later offered to push Little Skywalker on his swing and later asked him to race with his grand-daughter on a run around the field.

All this time, I was merely sitting there and observing all these activities that involved Little Skywalker. Suddenly, it struck me! I was one of them many many years ago, naive and innocent. No one was a stranger back then. I could hardly tell the differences among children of other descent. Even when we don't speak the same language, we still have a means to communicate with one another, like what they are doing now.

Unfortunately, we grow up to be much cynical and suspicious of one another, no thanks to our mediocre education system and bad leadership. How can anyone expect their young ones to grow out of our current predicament when our leaders do not have the will to overcome their own differences? How can we expect our future generations to be united against any external threats when all we do are issuing threats and pointing finger against one another?

All the activities that were going on at the playground mirrors exactly to those Merdeka advertisements that were shown over and over each year on TV, except this is real!

Only time will tell whether such a wonderful atmosphere will continue 20 years down the road...

Only time will tell how our future generations will judge us based what we are doing to one another today...

For those of you who have read through the protected posts, you'll know by now that J has resigned from her job. Last Saturday was her last day. To celebrate that, we took a short vacation to Genting (I can hear the "What? Again?" already) for a two nights stay. Our hotel stay was FREE as my uncle was kind enough to give us some unused vouchers (complimentary for buying Genting's shares). Our entourage consists of my brother's family and my grandparents as well.

It was Sean's and Tiffany's first trip to Genting while Little Skywalker could pass off as a professional tour guide already. Only photos from here on...

Angel or Evil?

Finally I bring myself to write about the banner that appears on top on this blog, probably because I find Little Skywalker's behavior to be somewhat intolerable recently. He used to be such a good boy for the past three years...

You see, long time ago, I've decided to raise my children to have an independent mind of their own. This is very much in contrast with my traditional Chinese upbringing, where almost every aspect of our childhood decisions are dictated by our parents. They decide what we should wear, what shows are suitable to watch, what food we should eat, which school we should go to, what friends we should have, and of course, what's right and wrong.

Growing up in an environment like this makes us dependent on our parents, who grew up under totally different circumstances themselves. I know, I know, we are taught to respect our elders (along with their decisions) from a very young age. That shows everyone else that we are filial and grateful to our parents. It also help you (I mean when you were a kid) to get on Santa's "Good List".

Unfortunately, overly-dependent on our parents could render us weak when it comes to making our own decisions. This is especially true when people grow up and have a family of their own. How many times do you see a husband or a wife sandwiched between their spouse's opinion and their parents' "advise". While this may not be true for the whole society, but such phenonmena is very prevalent among the Chinese community, especially during my generation.

While one part of me is very frustrated that Little Skywalker is very naughty and selfish most of the time, the other part of me is glad that to see him having a mind on his own. He has an opinion on almost everything. He will tell us his likes or dislikes constantly. If he is upset about something, he will really show it to us. At most cases, when he makes up his mind, it is impossible to stop him! Even so, J and I still did our best to discipline him with some smacking whenever he crosses the line. However, the guilt that came soon after was too hard to bear...

In an ideal world, I would like to have my cake and eat it too! Who doesn't dream of their children to be angels and yet grow up to be a great person? A dream is still a dream. I guess we just have to optimize between over-dictating our children's life and giving him the freedom to live their lives outside our shadow.

J and I brought Little Skywalker and Little Sean to Marmalade Cafe at Bangsar Village II for a bloggers' gathering. It was the first one for Little Sean. Since we have not been to the place before, we met up with Jazzmint at her place and followed her car.

Little Sean was sound asleep in his stroller for half of the time while Little Skywalker was as active as usual.

We saw a few new faces (Julian, Nadia, Mommy to Chumsy, Sabrina) and many ~~old~~ familiar faces (LaundryAmah, Tracy, Sasha, Oscar's Mommy, Shannon, Etcetera~Mommy, Annie Q, Dinah)...

Before we left, we did not forget to take some photos of Little Sean with the lovely wallpaper at the children's area.

Gifts From Godparents

This was last Friday...

I received a call from J while I was still in office, "Tell Greenapple that her package has arrived!". I quickly wrote an email to her as she was so worried that her package might be lost in the mail (since it was sent more than 2 months ago). It was a huge package, weighing 3.4kg!

We had to wait a day before Little Skywalker was back to open the box (he was at Genting attending a conference with my parents). As soon as he knew that the box was for him, he tried to find ways to tear it open.

After going through 2-3 layers of wrapping papers, he saw a big box of Lego that was meant for him. It was a belated birthday present for him, from his Godparents who live far far away.

His Lego set aside, Little Sean also got his fair share of gifts! ("Baby's First Handprint" and some toddler's toys).

Both of them received the cutest cards ever!

J and I can't express our gratitude enough to both Tomato and Greenapple...

Our boys are so blessed to have both of you as their Godparents...

Jealousy

Ever since Little Skywalker was born three years ago, he is more attached to J as compared to me. It was helped by the fact that he was breastfed for over two years. I rarely get much one-on-one with him except on Saturday mornings when J is working while I am not. I would made sure that we spent those few precious hours as fun as possible.

Another factor that Little Skywalker is more attached to his mother might be the fact that I am always the bad cop in the house. It's almost impossible to get J to raise her voice over her son. However, her condition has improved recently due to the arrival of our second son. At least now, she will raise her voice (after mine) when Little Skywalker refused to sleep at night. Unfortunately, my voice is still louder than hers :(

Since the arrival of our second baby, Little Skywalker has been showing signs of jealousy over his little brother. Although he hides it well, we could still sense that he is uneasy of being out of the spotlight of his mother. This turn of event actually worked towards my favour as Little Skywalker will come to me more often now :P

Sometimes, a little jealousy helps!

Missing Him

It's been slightly over three weeks since Little Sean was born. Throughout this period, Little Skywalker has been staying over at my parents' for most of the time. He was only home for a couple of nights. J missed him so much that she even cried one night. For me, I miss cradling him to sleep every night although it gives me a backache in the morning.

Well, it's not that we don't like having him around the house. It's just that he is going through a "whining phase". He tends to whine in a long "eehhhh..." sound and refused to speak up when he wants something. He prefers his parents to guess what he wants instead. Even J become frustrated with his latest antics, and trust me, she doesn't know how to get mad.

Furthermore, Little Skywalker is like a bio-hazard around the house, especially when there is a newborn in the house. Although we kinda got used to him running and crashing into furniture and people, Little Sean might not be able to take that kind of blow. It's not easy for us to stop him from being his hyperactive self, so it's better he run about at my parents' place instead. At least he will be happier there.

So far, he went with my parents to Penang for a few days to visit my brother. Last Sunday, he went up to Genting along with my father and my uncle's family. Surprisingly, he does not demonstrate his whiny-self in front of others except his parents. I guess he must be feeling the pinch after Little Sean was born.

However, we are hoping that Little Skywalker will come to miss his parents despite going on all those fun trips. God knows we miss him dearly...
